I'm going too. Those of you who are not from Porto Alegre, in which hotel are you staying?

leftofcenter, thank you, I guess haha

I LOVE Archaelogy. It's fascinating, even though I don't know much about it. But History + Science, it doesnt get much better than that!! haha Do you know in what area you'd like to work yet?

I've toyed with the idea of taking some Geology lessons before, but I've never actually got to do it =/ Well, except for one class which was Mineralogy, but that was about it. I wish I had more time to take some more classes.

Have you ever read any novels by David Gibbins? I think you might like it. He was a marine archaeologist.

Oh yes. I'm obsessed with Egyptology, and could probably happily spend the rest of my days digging around in the sand in Egypt. I am also getting really interested in Native American archaeology as well, and British/Irish archaeology. I think I'll just be happy to dig in the dirt hahaha.

I LOVE geology. I work for a fossil company, and I've taken a lot of geology classes. Also, I live along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, so we have all kinds of rad rock formations going on.

I haven't read any books of his, but marine archaeology is intriguing to me. It's an entirely different set of rules, as far as digging goes, but the things that can be found!!

These all sound very interesting, although I might say that I have a thing or two for British/Irish history, especially the ancient Celtic culture and some of the Viking after they invaded Britain. I've a read a few books on it and it's amazing really.

Actually, youu know what? I can picture myself as an archaelogist pretty easily hahaha a career change in sight, maybe? hahahahahhaha no, j/k haha

Anyway, I have a friend whose dad is a geologist with emphasys in geophysics and for what he has told us and all the field work he has done, it looks amazing.

I think you should try to read one of David Gibbins books. They're all very detailed, which, in my opinion, makes it even more interesting. And I agree! Oh, the things that can be found underwater... No wonder seas and oceans have been attracting treasure hunters for years!

Well, I'm a chemist but I loooooooooooove physics as well. Especially all that quantum stuff.

It's hard to explain, actually, because sometimes I seem to be interested in anything that has something to do with science, which makes it hard for me to keep up with everything that is going on in the scientific world.

It's fascinating to me.

I have a cousin who is a vet. Do you know what kind of animal you want to take care of yet? Like domestic animals or farm animals or any kind?

wow, quantum physics! you must be a genius lol! are you currently going to school, or are you out in the working world? now that i have graduated from undergrad, i am seeing how many possibilities there are in the field of chemistry! if i liked chemistry better, i might have considered that as a career.

i know what you mean, though, because i find most things in science very interesting. i'm currently reading a fascinating book - "animals in translation" by temple grandin. the author is autistic, and she basically relates her autism and general human psychology research to how she thinks animals view the world, and vice versa (she also uses animals to help explain her autism).

anyway, i would like to be a mixed practice vet, meaning dogs, cats, and horses. i'm also toying with the idea of possibly going into academia (being a veterinary professor, i.e. teaching in a vet school).

hahahaha trust me, I'm no genius! hahaha

Well, I'm practically done with school and currently working in a research project that investigates gallium catalysts. I do the theoretical part of the work, though. Not experimental. Computer simulations and applications of quantum theories to come up with new experiments to test the catalysts and to be able to study them better, basically.

That book sounds really interesting. Think they might have that on amazon?

I've thought of going into academia before too, but I just think I might not have the patience to actually do it.
