This is something I wrote after going to my first Hanson show in Tulsa a couple of years ago, and I figured since it's about the past, present, and future of being a Hanson fan, it would be fitting to share with you guys :)

"The Ride"

I would post an explanation of the lyrics, but I think most of you would understand the meaning behind them them :)

You know CEOs of companies that make billions in profits?

"You can't judge everyone by a handful."

Yes, I can. That's what the 1% comes from. That 1% of people, a hanful, that hold a majority of wealth in the country.

"People need to start learning how to save money and stay out of debt."

Just because YOU have a job that pays you enough to do that doesn't mean that OTHERS do. (People go to college to try to make a better future for themselves, and come out to a lack of jobs, and a pile of student loans and debt to deal with.) That's one of the points of the movement. Even if someone has a job, it doesn't mean that they're being paid well enough to meet basic needs. Companies are pulling in profits, and STILL laying off workers. Seems a little bit backwards to me.

I don't understand why some don't see that these protesters are protesting not just for themselves, but for EVERYONE who isn't a suit in corporate company. It's so frustrating. The media will show just a bunch of hippies sitting around asking for handouts, because hey, who owns and runs the media?

Even though it's not as bad as others isn't an excuse for it to be the shape it's in now, though ;)

I agree with you, I just didn't clarify that my statement was in regards to the whole,"do something with their lives," bit. I can kind of understand his point of view in the way that they HAVE busted their behinds for yeeeaaars to get where they are, but like you said, they also have a different lifestyle that isn't the norm for most Americans. 

People can work as hard as they want, but if you aren't willing to lie, cheat, and steal your way to the top, hard work isn't going to get you very far. Most of my jobs have been store-level jobs. Pay sucks, hours suck, benefits suck. Over-worked and under paid and you're expected to be SO GRACIOUS that you have a crappy job.

Yeah, like tessabus said, they were completely awesome to us when we saw them, very gracious and super sweet! They definitely deserve every bit of success that I'm positive is coming their way. :) The video is already near 8,000 views in two days! 

Well, I also think a big part of the movement is, even if someone IS out there looking for a job, if they manage to find one, in most cases, they DON'T offer liveable wages. I mean, who can honestly live on minimum wage? You can maybe survive on it, but what kind of life is one where you're merely surviving?

Delta Rae, who opened up for Hanson in 2010, just released their first official music video today!

They'll be releasing a studio album soon thanks to a successful kickstarter project, and their first single off of the album is, "Bottom of the River," full of stomps, claps, and chain rattles :D

Yep, I actually DO make my own fondant (I've never tasted the store-bought stuff, but I've heard it tastes terrible). It's just made out of marshmallow and powdered sugar. It's REALLY messy, but the results are definitely worth the work. This is where I got my recipe for the fondant =)

As I promised, a red-on-white version of the shirt. I think I like this one better then the red one :)

I'll probably also eventually make a red-on-black shirt as well, we'll see if I get bored enough.

Ashley, that's um...weird. I thought the blue tasted a LOT better than the yellow ;)
