It's not fake. Leigh did say awhile ago that it was their plans to do the 5 of 5 in those countries but it didn't work out.

I've been to the last 2 MOE's that they've had in Tulsa and as long as you sign up around the time the form is available, you're on the list.

The MOE, whatever it will be, more than likely won't be on actual Hanson Day. They usually do it on the weekends for one and its usually around the 14-15 or 20-21st.

They would be promoting an EP instead of a full length CD. I mean they're touring with this tour, the tour in 2009, and all the touring in 2008 without having a new CD to promote so that doesn't change anything for Hanson.

So what CD came out that Hanson is promoting on the tour they're on right now? Shout it Out came out last year and had an extensive tour for it. They're barely playing those songs so its not for that.

its really not that big of a deal. instead of a full 12 song CD, they put out a 6-8 song EP or whatever and then put out another one most likely the next year. They still have a bunch of new songs on a CD you can buy or download, whichever you want. They will still tour to support this new EP. This will still probably start playing these songs live. Like I said before, the only new music in 2009 was the Talk the Walk EP and they toured here through the fall. So why is everyone panicking? Especially since they didn't even say this is what they're for sure going to do. 

Technology changing is teh entire basis around this idea though. Before bands cutting back on songs released meant they were slowing down and stopping as a band because that was teh only way music was released. But now everything is digital where you can pick and choose what songs from a CD you want to download instead of buying the whole thing. So cutting back on songs and putting out 2 EP's over 2 years instead of one full length CD doesn't mean a band is slowing down. It means its trying to change with how people buy music now. 

I don't think your dad being part of a bigger label means he knows what's going to happen with Hanson. They own their own record label and the entire way the music business is structured is changing. What happened "back in the day" isn't how its going to be happening anymore.
