TOMS

“We want to inspire others to look for simple tangible ways to make a difference. It is easy to be halted by the great hurdles of poverty and AIDS, but making an impact can begin as simply as giving someone a pair of shoes, or buying a song.” - Taylor Hanson

Beginning Apr 9th, HANSON will embark on the next leg of their The Walk Tour in support of their new album, The Walk, and continuing their commitment to fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa, an effort that began with their trip to Africa to record the charity single, "Great Divide". TOMS Shoes starts with a simple idea - if you buy a pair of shoes, founder Blake Mycoskie will donate an equal pair to a deserving child. To date, TOMS have donated 58,000 pairs of shoes and last November HANSON joined them on their second shoe drop, delivering a whopping 50,000 pairs of shoes to children in Africa! Click below to see the walks from the fall leg of the tour, and the band helping TOMS to deliver shoes.

The Walk + Style Your Sole Party

HANSON and TOMS Shoes would also love your help in launching The Walk + Style Your Sole Party in your town! What is The Walk and What is a Style Your Sole Party? Good questions!

The Walk is an event where people walk for one mile barefoot to publicly demonstrate how many children in the world live without basic things such as shoes.  In conjunction with The Walk, A Style Your Sole Party is an event where people can design their own pair of TOMS Shoes! Each time somebody buys a pair of TOMS Shoes, a pair is donated to a child in Africa whose life will be greatly improved with a pair of shoes. The Walks began last fall when HANSON and TOMS first joined up on The Walk Tour and thousands walked over 48 miles to help reach the 50,000 shoe goal for South Africa. Now it is your turn to set up a walk of your own.

Setting up an event in your town is easy! Just follow these steps:

*Pick a place & time/date to start – All walks must start somewhere! It can line up with the Hanson tour as it swings through your town. It doesn't have to though, it's completely up to you. If you are a student, it would be great if the event could take place on your college campus.

*Invite your friends & Promote the event – Promoting your event is easy with the tools provided on The Walk page. You’ll be actively selling TOMS Shoes. Each time a pair of shoes is bought, a pair will be delivered to a child in need.

*Order Your Shoes – Once you’ve gathered everyone’s sizes and money, place your order (2 weeks before your event) by emailing TheWalk@TOMSshoes.com or call 310.566.3175. You can also order the special edition Great Divide Shoe (beginning this summer) with the white shoes you need for you and your friends to customize during your event.

*Partner up with a shoe retailer – Find a shoe retailer you can partner with – perhaps they will even be interested in hosting your Style Your Sole party.

*Take The Walk and enjoy your party! – you worked hard, enjoy it! You just got great shoes!

Email TheWalk@TOMSshoes.com for more information.

For those of you who aren’t able to host their own Walks or Style Your Sole parties, HANSON will still be hosting 1 mile walks in each city and would love you to join them!
In each tour city, HANSON will host a 1 mile walk to bring attention to the cause. The exact location of the each day’s walk will be announced on hanson.net 3 hours in advance (ps if you participate in the 1 mile walk, you'll get to "jump the line" for the concert that night so you don’t need to worry about losing your place!).  Feel free to bring signs, posters, etc.  For creative ideas, click here.

Videos of the Walks in each city

In each city, we'd like not only fans, but local bands to join our 1 mile treks. Bring your video cameras and film the walk along the way. Film yourself, the bands, HANSON and everyone else. Then, send your videos to us, we’ll post some on our youtube page, and we'll also edit some together to include in our new episodes of the Taking The Walk podcast. Send your videos of the walks to youtube@3cgrecords.com.

Many of you are already sending in your videos of the 1 mile walks before each show and those have been great. If you haven't sent yours in yet, send videos to youtube@3cgrecords.com. If possible, the best video format is mov, but other formats, such as mpeg-4, are ok, too. Videos should be roughly 1 min in length if possible. Please put the name of the city in the subject of the email and be sure to include your name.
