I love reading album reviews, but there doesn't seem to be all that many of them. Am I just missing them? The ones I have read seem iffy....

Thanks!! That one from pop shifter is really good! I don't quite understand how they get knocked for being "too in tune". They are too good to be good? Weird. The reviews are mixed, but 3 stars isn't bad I suppose. |

The reviews are mixed, but 3 stars isn't bad I suppose. I think the too in tune comment comes from reviewers who do not know what they sound like live. There aren't a lot of singers around today who actually sing as well as Hanson do - so I think people automatically assume that their flawless harmonies come from a large amount of finetuning in the studio. If people ever bothered to check out come live performances to compare, they'd realise what we all know... there actually isn't a big difference between how they sound live and how they sound on a record. It's kind of sad that the music industry has gotten so bad that people don't even believe that musicians can actually just be that good! ♪ When it's pounding in your ear |

It's kind of sad that the music industry has gotten so bad that people don't even believe that musicians can actually just be that good! That's the great thing about the album: it sounds really tight, with great harmonies, far more melodic and rhythmic twists and hooks, without being slick, autotuned or ProTool'd. It's the reviewer's loss he can't spot the difference, but, generally speaking, it's a sure sign of how wary we have become of pitch manipulation etc. that we don't trust our ears. That's sad. I guess the "Tay's Music Exchange" DVD should be an obligatory inclusion - for obligatory viewing! Other than that, I really like all the references to those reviews and how positive they are. It's only Allmusic that spoils it a bit by mentioning the Jonas Brothers once more (twice) and conjuring up images of 'workmanlike', 'capable' and 'routine' efforts. Rich |
