so I'm really lame and have never joined the fan club, but I'm also a poor college student, and I was just wondering if it really is worth the $40? I really love hanson, and have for a long time as I'm sure mostly everyone else has, but I also don't want to spend unneccesary money.

To me it's worth it. You get pre-sale tickets,go to MOE,get to watch atlive events,see FUTYS,get rare pictures,fan club exclusive t-shirts,Membership Kits,etc. If you can afford it I would.

Hanson treats all their fans really well so you don't need to spend the $40 if you can't afford it...in my opinion if you don't care about exclusive merchandise or presale tickets it depends on how "in the loop" you want to be.  I personally think the $40 is very worth everything, but I'm just saying that if you can't afford it then don't sweat it. :)

It's definetly worth. We have a lot of benefits when we become fan club members. I believe Hanson.net is one of the most complete fan club in the world, I've never seen other artists doing what Hanson and Hanson.net do for us, fans. :)

I think that since you've never been a fan club member before, you might like to join but I guess it depends on what you expect...

as for the members only merch, you can see it in the store.  It's just a different color than the other merch, so that's not really a selling point. 

MOE is all the way in Tulsa, so if you don't have the time/resources/desire to travel there, that's not really a selling point. 

You get pre-sale tickets, but unless it's something like 5/5 I don't know if that's a big deal at all.

@live events are pretty cool and they *will* be streaming the entire 5/5, so that's pretty cool.  They have one @live event archived and it's public though ...  

FUTYs are pretty cool too.

you don't really get rare pictures though, or at least nothing that's like "OMG I'm so glad I spent 40 dollars to see these"

hmm depends where u live. i think the main benefit is getting presale tickets to shows, but if u dont live in the states thats pretty irrelevant since the states is mostly where they tour. most of the stuff u have access to on here, such as music, is available to non-members, except for a few things such as the member kits. about half the blogs are members only and they are really fun to watch. but all of it is accessible later so if u dont have the money now u can wait, and buy or watch/isten to everything later

For me personally when i was a member i looked forward to the kits with the exclusive music. The FUTYs are fun, but they have public one's too now, so they're fine for me!

You get the extra forums - that depends how much time you gonna spend on here. Pre sale tickets are good if you live in the U.S or can travel.

I wouldn't say you were spending unnecessary money. You just need to balance how much you will get out of it.

All in all, Hanson has a great fan club. It's your choice tho', you could join and see for yourself and just take it from there!

Hanson Notes: - I love reading them each month and partiparting. Its online Hanson magazine that is created by fans.

The extra forums - When I have no money to go out and do anything I post on here. Whenever I am bored. Extra forumns and you can give Hanson merch ideas.

Alive streaming - I love it. Even tho I dont go to many concerts at least I can watch them on here.

Hanson posts - often on the other side.

Adding friends list - Its pretty cool.

When I first became a member it was in 2005 and I bought tickets and joined then they cancelled. I let my membership expired and I came back in 2007 and started using the forumns more.

How did we forget that??  That's a pretty awesome perk. :)  It seems like these days that if you are a fan club member and are going to concerts, you most likely will get a meet and greet (if you haven't already, of course).

how often are the @live events? does anyone know if they're streaming all the 5 of 5's? and are they only for fan club members? I know the end of the use your soul tour wasn't, I was able to watch that.

I've been a member for about a year now.  Previously, I was a member waaaaay back in the Moe magazine days, but while in high school and college I couldn't justify the cost. 

I joined again because, now that I'm an adult, I felt like i could budget $40 a year to something that has always been such a big part of my life as Hanson.  The one big thing I would say is that I LOVE feeling like I'm always in the loop now.  I rarely visited h-net when I wasn't a member, but for whatever reason, buying that membership really made me want to participate more fully in this community.  I love coming back to find new FUTYs and the Alive thing is/was really cool too.  I find the member's side boards to be where I spend the bulk of my h-net time for whatever reason as well.  I haven't used the benefit of the pre-sale tickets yet, but I defintiely think that'll be awesome come summer tour, as is the possibility of winning a M&G or Reporter!

Overall, I think the $40 is TOTALLY worth it.  I've said multiple times over the past year that I was so happy for making this investment and I wished that I had joined years ago.  In fact, I just renewed my membership over the weekend.  =)

To me it's worth it, I originally joined in 2006, but couldn't renew for various reasons the following year, so I re-joined in 2008. But I really enjoy it not just because of the stuff we can get, but because it's allowed me to make some friends that I probably wouldn't have made otherwise.

how much do the membership kits cost? you can't see the prices in the store when you're not a member?
