That's what I figured, and I'm sure it seems completely obvious...but I know they haven't compiled/aren't sending out the 09 membership kits yet (not that I'd be expecting it THIS early) but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks! Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

Ok, so...this might seem like a complete DUH question, but if I join NOW (as in today, January 2nd) I'll get the 2009 membership kit, not the 2008...correct? To be completely honest, I'm not that interested in the 08 membership kit and was hoping to get in on the 09 one instead...I just want to be absolutely certain before I join. Y'know? If anybody can confirm this for me, twould be greatly appreciated... Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

QUOTE: dyin2baliveQUOTE: cutejesusfreakI just started watching the first season of Family Guy last night and I finally saw the episode where Peter kills Hanson. So funny!
He didn't kill them. I thought what happened is that Meg as sittingon the front step and a white van with "Hanson" on the side pulls up to the house, and the 3 boys get out and say that they're lost. Meg starts freaking out because she loves them, and Peter goes 'Oh my GOD It's the children of the the corn!" grabs his shotgun and starts shooting at them and they run away, then Meg gets upset and cries and runs into the house lol..
Oh by the way, I saw an interview on this --- Ike and Zac think that they're hilarious when Family guy mentions them but Taylor said: "Yeah speak for yourselves!" and looked really pissed off, haha. That's ironic, because I actually watched that episode today...it doesn't show him kill them, but it doesn't show him NOT kill them either...really, it just shows him pick up the gun and start shooting, then cuts off. Maybe it was edited for the DVD, but I don't ever remember anything else happening after that...I dunno. The Quagmire and Taylor Hanson thing makes me laugh every time...hiiiilarious. Oh, and if anybody would happen to want anymore info on SXSW, here's the official 09 website If you're in the area, its a fantastic opportunity to hear great new music, and its also the time of year when Austin is littered with celebrities (if that's more your cup of tea)...my friend had a conversation with Owen Wilson once at Barton Springs for 10 minutes during SXSW before saying "You know, you look JUST like Owen Wilson" and he said "That's because I am." ...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! SXSW is the most awesome music festival EVER! (Ofcourse I say that, because I'm an Austinite and its held annually in Austin, TX) ...I think its actually a music/movie fest...the bigger Austin music fest is ACL (Austin City Limits) which is also held annually. I'm pretty sure Hanson has shown up for this the past couple of years...it IS where they were originally "discovered" after all, so why not? But yeah, I'm almost positive that clip is from this year...but yeah, I do that leg thing too, when I'm singing or playing flute...I don't know if its the extensive marching band experience, or my natural fidgety-ness...but yeah...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Eh, potato, tomato, pinata, whatever...lol Congrats to them on the new wee one, that's so exciting! December babies are the best kind, true story (says the December baby). And Viggo Moriah is WAY better than whatever gibberish my sister said when she told me on the phone, because she couldn't remember exactly what it was...she goes "I think it was Ziggy (something)" and I just went "NO." lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Oh, for the longest, longest time, in Strong Enough to Break, I sang "Sugar is the price you pay" instead of "STRUGGLE is the price you pay"...it didn't make any sense, but for the life of me I couldn't translate Taylor-ese into anything else. My dad also refuses to sing the real lyrics to MMMBop even though I'm sure he knows them. Instead, he always sings "Give a man a leash to lead his life"...yeah. A girl at the Dallas walk also stepped on a piece of glass and was bleeding...I was standing right next to her and Isaac was pushing through to get to the front for the mid walk speech and she showed him...he said something to the effect of "Whoah, that's hardcore! You ok?" They should make us all sign a waiver before we walk, what with all these injuries...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

OH! This wasn't me, but on the radio YEARS ago, some girls called the radio station I listen to to ask the DJ what Isaac is singing in the background in MMMBop...when he sings "Is it going to be a daisy or a rose?" They thought he was saying "Party cheesy oar"...lol...I also still hear that, to this day, every time I listen to the song... Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

My sister and I ALWAYS sing "There's a LION in your silence"....just because its better that way, lol Like the first million times I heard Great Divide, the line "Still we hunger for a moment of freedom" I thought he was singing "Still we hunger for a mama to feed." I had to read the lyrics, and it STILL sounds like he's singing that every time I hear it...lol. Somehow, my sister and I also turned "Tearin It Down" into "Chair in a Town"...we still sing it that way, and sometimes people can't tell the difference...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Also, I kind of don't think it was meant to be taken seriously.... I'm pretty sure they sing it as kind of a joke...just the whole way they've slowed the tempo down and the fashion in which they sing it SCREAMS satire to me... I could be wrong. But I cracked up the first time I heard it...so I guess I kind of thought that was the point. In which case, there technically isn't any double standard to apply, if they aren't singing it with any serious intention...I guess. Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! I also seem to remember hearing Zac say Lord of the Rings somewhere...it is a great trilogy...although, and I could be wrong on this...but I also want to say I heard Taylor say Atlas Shrugged one time...and I cringed a little. lol Memoirs of a Geisha is an amazing book...I also have reread The Hot Zone multiple times (but I'm also a science junkie) and The Poisonwood Bible...Wasted is a really good memoir... I think I could probably go on forever. I love books. Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

^^agreed. I'm in the process of organizing a walk on the TCU campus (Texas Christian)...we're going to try and get some backing from certain student organizations and maybe even student government...because if we could do THAT, it would really spread word around campus. Look into seeing if there are any groups on campus that would be willing to help out. Maybe mention in passing that The Walk is the brainchild of Hanson and they're the ones donating the money, but focus more on the cause. Make it clear that this is about helping people, not so much about the band. I think those of us on college campuses may even have a head start on everybody else...we have access to a vast number of people condensed in a small area, who typically tend to be more motivated towards taking action to help somebody as opposed to directly donating money (since we tend to be on the flat broke side of things, lol)... Good luck with your walk! Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

Ha..."Hanson time"...that's funny, cause when I heard the estimate of "this time next year" I also thought "So in Hanson speak, that means this time three years from now...?"
It doesn't particularly matter to me, because even if it was that long, I know it would be worth the wait, plus I understand that it takes a LOT of work to make a quality album, and these guys have been rush rush rush non-stop for the past year or two...or eleven...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Wow, talk about obnoxiousness...those video clips are awful. My sister and I were actually in the second row at the Wichita show as well...lol...we didn't encounter the same girl, BUT, we had serious issues a few times with people pushing through and trying to get in front of us. These two little girls in particular (little as in small, not young)...if they had ASKED us if we could move a little so they could see, then I would have been happy to, but they simply shoved us and went "ExCUSE me, we can't SEE...let us up there." I just ignored them. They kept at it for a while and finally I heard a girl behind me say "These people waited outside for a LONG time to get these spots, and if you wanted one of them, you should have showed up early too." THANK YOU, whoever you were...lol Then they kept going "We can't help it we're short." ...is it MY fault you're short? Like I said, if they had just asked nicely, I probably would have let them in front of me, even though I did wait several hours to get that spot... Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dude, these guys are AWESOME!!!
After the Wichita show, Mikey was walking around the halls of the venue...I stopped to tell him that they put on an awesome show...he said thanks, gave me a hug and told me he liked my earrings (they were huge peace signs)...badass.

Oh yeah...and after the show in Wichita, we were all standing outside in back waiting for the guys to come out...Zac, Kate and Diana made a run out to the bus with his son, and when they went straight back in...he turned around, looked directly at me and said "Don't worry...I'll be back."
Of course...the best I could come up with was basically "Duuuuuuhr...ok." Ha.

It really depends...for PTL at the HOB in Dallas, I believe you had to spend 60 dollars on a meal to pass...
Also, at the Dallas show, we showed up 1 and a half - 2 hours before the show and were about 15 feet from the stage...at the Wichita show, we showed up 2 and a half hours before and were in the second row.
I suppose if you want to be front row you'd have to show up the night before...but I mean...at Wichita, the front row showed up the night before/that morning...and we showed up 2 hours before and STILL got second row...so you don't necessarily have to show up all early like that. It depends on how many people are going to be at the show and how hardcore they are, etc.

That one is tough, cause I have so many good Hanson memories... the walk in Wichita was great though...what with Taylor giving us the arts tour, and the high-five from Zac, Isaac's little diatribe about the walker statue and the acoustic performance afterwards...the show was also amazing...and getting my picture with Zac has got to be up there too... I dunno, he wasn't rude to me either and seemed to be in a good mood...he was nice to my sister and offered me a high five when I told him we'd driven six hours to be there...*shrugs*...
I was a little disappointed with the turn out, but at the same time, it was cool to be a part of such an intimate concert. Plus, fewer people to worry about being ahead of us in line, lol...we ended up in the second row...couldn't have been happier. I thought it was a fantastic show...

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing the other day! lol I'm 22 (almost 23) and I've been a fan since I was 11, too...I was just like "Wow...its crazy that I've reached a point where the majority of my life, I've been a Hanson fan"...and that when I get old, there will be just barely over a decade in which Hanson was not a part of my life. It depends on the venue as well, though. In Dallas, we got our hands stamped and then went over to HOB...we asked somebody at the front desk if they were going to honor the hand stamps and she said that later they would make a separate line. Then the same lady told the girls who ended up in line behind us that the band hadn't contacted them about any stamps, and that there wouldn't be any other line. I know that HOB in Dallas wasn't the only place that gave fans problems either, i remember somebody else on here complaining about it...but yeah, I would just ask the people in charge when you get there, and hope that they're honest with you. There were a LOT of pissed off people in Dallas, because we got stamped and ended up at the back of the line. Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

I used to be really, really into theater myself...did a few local shows and was hired on by a movie studio in Austin, TX as an extra for a couple of films (paid acting gig...woot!)...but I kind of outgrew it. I write extensively though, mostly poetry. I also play flute, guitar and piano. I like to think I'm decent at all of those things...lol Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! A good friend of mine is in Zambia right now, and loving it - the change of scenery in general, and the work he's been able to do...just all the opportunities associated with it in general. It does take a lot of hard work and dedication and you have to be willing to give up a large chunk of time in a completely foreign place...but if your heart is in it...definitely worth it. I've been researching it myself for a while now, and plan on signing up sometime soon. Dallas 98, 00, 08 - Wichita 08 I TOOK THE WALK! Dallas 08 - Wichita 08 |

Haha, I thought about that the other day and wondered... I remember calling over and over to listen to the messages, and the familiar "I'm sorry, this mailbox is full" every time... And then once, I called, and it actually beeped for me to leave a message and I FREAKED out, because I was not at all prepared and kind of went "duh...." and hung up the phone...ha. Or on Zac's birthday, how it says "bellow" instead of "below"... ...yeah, I'm really anal about grammar and stuff too, so I ALWAYS notice the little typos and mistakes that are made on the blog...Zac does it a LOT. That's alright, its endearing, I suppose...it humanizes them a little.

Oh! I also have a question... What is the parking situation at/around The Cotillion? I've never been to Wichita (or even Kansas, for that matter) in my life, so I'm not familiar with the area at all and couldn't find parking information on the venues website. Do they have a lot? Is there street parking/garages/lots available close by? My sister and I are staying at an airport hotel that (according to the map, anyway) is about 10 miles down the street, so I suppose if worse comes to worse we could always just find some sort of public transportation or get a taxi...
