Hey.. Just giving you the heads up.. Ireland is expensive! especially Dublin.. I live in Cork and its not so bad... but considering I live with my mam and not alone thats probably why..
From experience, I find the USA much cheaper than Ireland..
Avoid Finglas, Ballymun, Rialto, Dolphins Barn, Marino, Dublin 8. These are known rough areas. Rathmines, Rathfarnham, Terenure, Templogue etc are very well repected places.

Ireland is more expensive than England (maybe thats because of the Euro) but also really beautiful. Dublin's a cool place - have been a few times, it's like every other major European city - should be easy to get work (although i'm not considering the current financial climate) there's so much to do there. It's amazing!

i was there back in october, and it's a beuatiful city. my friend lives there for the next 6 months. It's very expensive, but if you work there you'll also get more money and so it's easy to manage it.
I've heard that in the north of river liffey (sp?) a lot of people with less income live, like people from other countries. I think the south of the river is more beautiful, but also a bit more expensive to live. But it's always up to the job you get.
I think it would be helpful to visit "USIT". They've helped my friend to find a good job. If you walk down the O'Connell Street and walk over the bridge you'll see a big sign at ine of the houses on the right.
