Apparently I'm allergic to exercise.

First off, I just want to say that I'm allergic to cold temperatures and end up with hives if my body feels it is too cold.

I went to the gym today and worked up a good sweat. I know sweat is used for cooling down the body which is cool. I'm fine with that, but apparently my body got a little too cooled down because right after I started sweating, I started getting hives where I was sweating. My whole body was pretty much covered in hives. The ones on my legs were so unbearably itchy that they hurt and I was almost crying on my drive home from the campus gym.

When I got home, I took a hot shower and the hives disappeared, but even until right now I feel the effects of the drowsiness that comes along with hives.

I'm just kind of frustrated. I want to exercise and work out and be more fit, but if it means getting hives every time I do it, I don't know if my body can handle it.

That's gotta be crappy.

I can relate to the whole beeing so itchy that it hurts. I suffer from Dermographism, which is a skin condition where anything that brushes up against my skin can make me extremely itchy... and it's made me cry many times!

im allergic to exercise too. believe it or not, its a fairly common thing. when i exercise, get upset, or get over heated, my whole body becomes covered in hives. i turn as red as a tomato, and i usually end up passing out. to get rid of it, i take benadryl. unfortunately theres no cure for it, you really just have to know your limits and be able to tell when a rash is coming on. it developed for me at the age of 11 when i first hit puberty.

but hey, it got me out of gym class!

its called cholinergic urticaria. when it first developed, none of my doctors knew what it was. i seriously went to every doctor imaginable and had countless sonograms, blood tests, mris, all kinds of stuff.

Mine only get that bad every once in a while.

But before I knew what it was it would get REALLY bad! My boyfriend would have to hold me down and I would end up crying from the pain.

Jaime, I even get hives when it's nice outside! Yesterday I walked around DC and got hives just waolking around with a t-shirt on, and it was at least 70 degrees outside. I really hate my allergy. I've had it since I was 11, and while my uncle also had it at that age, he grew out of it after a few years. I have yet to grow out of it. :(

Aww gosh thats awful.....i hate anything that stops you being able to do something you want to!

I have now got this stupid Ulcer which is stopping all the things i enjoy...i cant even drink coffee :( my fav thing in the world.

Maybe go to the doctors (i know its expensive) and ask if there is something you can take to stop this
