i think it's a FANTASTIC (although tragic) movie...i think it won like 3 oscars and was critically acclaimed. has anyone else seen it?

i love how it mixes historical realistic fiction with fantasy...like how the faun could either be a figment of ofelia's imagination or reality.

the downside to this movie for me is the violence. i didn't really care to see so much blood! and a lot of the blood wasn't really necessary to the storyline (i.e. the rabbit hunters), although it did bolster the image of captain vidal as a cruel monster.

I love that movie, though the ending leaves it so open to interpretation....

if you liked that movie you should watch "Mirrormask"

I've only seen it once, but I definitely really enjoyed the film. The cinematography was amazing!

oh, i LOVE that it's in spanish! i think the subtitles are very easy to read. and it makes the story more believable...i mean, it takes place in spain, so it would be weird for the movie to be in english.

what's that movie about?

the movie is pretty much based on a girl who's life was in a circus and how one night she gets trapped in this fantasy like world and she's trying to get back to the "real world" because he mother is sick.

I really can't say much without giving away a lot of the essential parts of the plot, It's an interesting "fairy tale" like movie with some interesting twists...very artistically driven...

You just have to watch it, :)

I saw it. It was great. But I agree with the violence...normally I don't mind but some parts actually made me turn away. Like the bottle beating... o_o *shudder*

One of my all-time favorite movies! I LOVE Guillermo del Toro. I highly recommend "The Orphanage" by him. Same kind of idea where it's up to the viewer to fingure out what's going on. I love movies that don't spell every little thing out for you.

yeah, that made me turn away too! but the movie on a whole was so good that i HAD to watch it again and again, and so i just started fast-forwarding through that part. i mean, it's not really an integral part of the story anyway. so to be honest, i wish the director would have cut that scene out.

I own the DVD.  I've only watched it once since I bought it.  I didn't care for the violence either.
