seriously. make me regret so much!

I F'd up my freshman year-started out with an "i dont care" additude, unfortunately it stuck with me until the end of last year

Now im finding its hard to get into a college with such a low GPA..and its also clear its pure laziness because of my ACT score being relatively high.

Oh well, live and learn I suppose.

Wish me luck getting into ISU, I really hope I can go so that I can be with my brother there for my first year of college!!

I wish you all the best getting in, but if that doesn't happen for you then I would suggest taking classes at community college to build up your gpa.

My ACT scores and GPA sucked too and I went to a community college for a year and then transfered to a university.

ahh I've been at the comm. college for like 5 yrs...and still wished I had just gone to a university and done it all at once :p actually it saved me a bunch of money and help me figure out my major, but it still would have been a little nice ya know?

I'm starting to fill out my apps for universites and such, it is a pain, I completely agree.

Why must each one require a different essay/personal statement.

i felt so unprepared for college when I started.

The stress of it all was so overwhelming.

I wish I would have prepared even the tiniest bit while in high school.

I agree the application process sucks.  I've always been a total over-achiever and I applied to 13 schools and then a bajillion scholarships when I was in high school.  Now I'm stuck doing the same thing for Grad School.

Good luck.  I'll send some good application karma your way.

dont count yourself out... my friend did the same exact thing--and shes smart too.. she failed RELIGION freshman year (we went to a catholic high school so we had to take it.. it was the easiest class, as long as you knew the prayers that youve been saying your whole life). and then towards senior year she really started caring and doing well, and her SAT scores were great. one of our teachers wrote a really good recomendation for her--basically saying that she didnt try at first, but now she really wants to do well and is extremely capable of doing so. and when she heard back from colleges it turned out they gave her scholarships.

I know what you mean about slacking off in high school and regretting it later.  I missed basically the last month of my junior year in high school (complicated reasons) which completely destroyed my gpa.  If I hadn't messed up and stayed at at least a 3.0 I could have gotten free tuition at the community college I went to.

Applying to schools is a pain.  I was waiting forever for my acceptance letter from the school I'm at now and then found out the reason it was taking so long was my former school hadn't sent my transcript (which I had asked them to send over a month before).  Not fun trying to keep up with admissions, financial aid, housing, etc.

If you don't get into ISU (Illinois or Iowa?), then I would suggest going to a community college until you can get your GPA up.  Actually, taking your gen ed classes at a community college is a smart thing to do because it saves you a lot of money in the long run.  After two years, you can transfer to a university then.  I also found that community college classes are a lot smaller and you get more one-on-one attention from your professors.  I wish I would have started at a community college and then transfered. I wouldn't have so much student loan debt now if I had done that! Good luck!

Thank You for the DSM M&G!!!

if it makes you feel any better, once you get into college, your high school GPA doesn't really matter after that. your college grades definitely matter more than your high schooll grades.

I probbaly should not be posting this, but I filled out one application. One. I mean, granted, I filled it out to the school I knew I wanted to go to, and I knew I would get in, but just do your best from here on out. College is what you make of it, so if you want to do well, then put your mind to it and go after it. Don't let a mistake in high school let you down and don't think of community college as a bad stepping stone either. It may actually help you in the long run.

And as long as you're a good student, which you sound like you are, then your first year of school will be a piece of cake. I still can't believe I'm in my first year of college and have done the minimal amount of homework and probably still have all A's or B's. haha, oh, and as for essays, I only had to do them for scholarships which made me want to kill myself, but I found as many that asked for basically the same thing so I used half of the same scholarships about, 10 times. haha

=) I'm such a terrible student.
