so i just purchased my first pair of TOMS. yeah, im proud. but as i was looking around on the site trying to make the hard decision of what color i wanted to be my first pair, i found something. STYLE YOUR SOLE it is an idea on the TOMS website. basically, you get a large group together, purchase everyone shoes in their size and then have materials to decorate them. they would purchase the shoes and we would provide markers, fabric, buttons, jewels, paint and so on for them. when i saw this i instantly thought of youth ministires. this would be perfect! not only do the kids get to walk around with a kickin pair of shoes they decorated themselves but they get to be involved just like we are. i have been up all night doing research on how this could work. when thinking of how we could make this work in our area i thought of it all. location, cost of materials, getting the word out... i have it all figured out. piece of cake. the only problem i ran into was the cost of the shoes themselves. to some families $40.00 is no problem, to others that could be a huge deal. then it came to me. the event would take a few weeks of planning anyway, so why not do a fund raiser ! i actually found one that is no cost. that way for the kids that couldnt afford it, they would have the oppertunity to raise the money for their toms shoes. and in doing a fund raiser they would get to tell their story of why they are doing it to people. spreading the word even further. i could ramble on and on about what ive found and the technicalities of it all.. but what i want to know is does this sound like a good idea? would any of you out there like to get involved? i ask because it is 9:48 in the morning and i have still yet to go to bed. once i found all of this i immediately started looking into it. so needless to say im a weeee bit tired. i want to know what you all think THANKKS! |

I think that's a great idea. And the more people you get to help the easier it would be to raise the money. Also, talk to local business and see if they would may be be willing to give something for it. Maybe some how your fundraiser would incorporate publicity for them? --Lauren OKC 97, Tulsa 97, Tulsa 98, Tulsa 05, OKC 08, Tulsa 08, Wichita 08 |

And they don't necessarily have to be Toms. They could be any type of shoe really.
