<!-- @page { size: 8.5in 11in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } --> Hey Everybody, I joined HansonNet just to post this so I hope you'll listen and respond if you can.
I went to the show last night in Kansas City, and despite being incredibly awesome, something happened that I felt deserved a comment. Perhaps you saw me if you where there, I was the tall guy in the second row wearing a black hat. During the Acoustic set, Zac came out to sing a song and before he started playing he took a minute to talk about the band's causes and activism. Unfortunately WHILE he was talking, a girl in the front row barked "less talking, more singing". He looked irritated and flustered, then he introduced the song and started playing. Personally, I wanted to hear what he had to say, and I know most of the rest of the crowd did as well, but that's beside the point. Apart from her comment being EXTREMELY disrespectful, it basically represented a common sentiment that troubles me greatly. Part of the reason I've followed Hanson to concerts in different cities and supported them is because they work tirelessly to support worthy and dire causes in AFRICA and around the world. I can't imagine it ever being acceptable to try to shut up the band that you've come to see play, but I was appalled that it was because he was talking about the causes they believe in. Perhaps you just like Hanson for their looks and their music, and I suppose that's okay, but PLEASE don't disregard the enormous amount of work they are doing for others. I don't want to incite any hatred, so PLEASE don't spitefully criticize the girl who shouted in this thread. I'm sure, in time, she'll realize what she did was not acceptable.
Thanks for reading, ~Dan PS: Zac- playing cross-handed for that song Taylor re-introduced was AWESOME. You're amazing.

I completely agree with you, Dan. I've been a fan since '97 and see them at least once on every tour (usually more than that). I, too, am annoyed when people-- FANS-- don't want to listen to such a worthwhile message, especially since a good chunk of their most recent music has been inspired by that very activism they're talking about. In other words, if one is a fan of their music, especially to the extent of "barking 'less talking, more singing,'" then one should also be a fan of the message behind that music, which I'm sure is what Zac was attempting to do. And on a more basic note, it's just common courtesy to listen. I like to believe, or at least hope, that you and I are in the majority. |

the person that did that was having a difficult day and realized later that she shouldn't have said it. She apologized to zac and everyone on here. I agree she should not have done it, but I guess realizing what you did was wrong and not doing it again is the next best thing. |
