Sponsorship of the DD Dliwayo

As some of you might remember i have been trying to set up sponsorship for the DD Dliwayo school since October and finally got into contact with Ella from the school in december. I created a 'cause' group on facebook to find out how many people would be interested in sponsoring the school and had a great response, nearly 200 people have expressed interest in doing so.

The only problem we have had is we did have anywhere to send any money collected so, so far we haven't collected any.

Ella emailed me yesterday and they have now set up a bank account for us to send donations to.

Either contact me on here or on the facebook group http://apps.facebook.com/causes/42070?h=ppn&recruiter_id=7879010 if  you are interested in donating.

Ella also sent me some pictures of the children yesterday so i will add them to the facebook group so you can all see later.

Also Ella has given me two ways of donating either through a bank account or paypal. This is not a personal bank account, it goes directly into a fund for the school.

Its quite sad really....im not at all surprised about their only being one response.......unless Hanson are involved people are just not interested. There are a few core girls who still want to participate and these are the girls i know are doing it for the right reasons.

Lol Maybe i should remind everyone that this is the school that Hanson go and visit when they are in SA.

Anyway The paypal is causing problems and so are the banking details....i have been unable to donate to either so were just trying to sort this out.

I would love to help.  But right now, we're planning our own shoe drop for the fall For the kids here in America that need shoes.  We need sponsors for that.  All my tip money is going toward paying for this trip and the shoes.  When tour dates are posted, we will know for sure where we're going.  But it isn'tg  just going to Hanson concerts.  (I roped a few non-hanson fans into going/helping)

There are so many groups and ways to sponser, maybe people just can't afford to donate this way?

But I agree, if this was Taylor Hanson posting asking for sponsership, there'd be a million replies.

Anywhoo, it's a good idea. Obviously this school needs all the help they can get. I just thought I'd point out that fans can be fickle and or are broke. :P

 My 1st grade class raised over $500 for the school and we sent the money to them through Bryan Johnson (the photography guy that went with hanson to Africa). We also have collected all our old textbooks, materials, etc...and sent them over this summer. It was a TON of stuff! The whole school participated, even our Principals.
    Thanks for being the soundtrack to the last 10 years of my life!

 Hey, everyone has an excuse, right. I still owe my best friend for rock boat - my husband finished his 6 year enlistment in the military in April and hasnt worked since because he broke his foot and heel in January :( He is doing better now and starts work on monday, and we can start digging out of debt! I can definitely donate money in a few weeks. You know, I work for a webhosting company and get free webspace as well as free shared ssl (the security needed for processing payments online). It would cost me a small amount of money for the payment gateway, but I can definitely make this contribution for the time being until we get back on our feet. I can work on getting a page together where people can donate money, but I have to clear it with management first. We're not allowed to use our free webspace for a profit, but I never asked about charity... If you're interested in having something like this setup, let me know
